Governance of the Children’s Services Council of Leon County consists of a 10-member board. Five are gubernatorial appointees, and they serve staggered four-year terms. Five others serve by virtue of their positions in other bodies, and they are: Leon County School Superintendent, designee from the Department of Children and Families District office, a school board member selected annually by the Leon County School Board, a county commissioner selected annually by the Leon County Commission, and a juvenile court judge selected annually by the Chief Judge for Leon County Circuit Court.
We currently have two vacancies on the Governing Council. Terms are four-year terms unless otherwise stated. Should a Governor appointed member resign or no longer be able to serve, the vacancy will be filled by an appointment by the Governor using the same method as the original appointment. The vacancy shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term. Learn more: https://www2.leoncountyfl.gov/Committees/Committees/Committee/1154.
