Judge Miller, a native of Newton, Georgia, has lived in Leon County for over 30 years. In April 2020, he was appointed by the Governor to serve as a circuit judge in the Second Judicial Circuit. He is assigned to the Dependency and Family Law divisions and he presides over a range of cases, including domestic violence, termination of parental rights, adoption, divorces, custody and other family law matters. Prior to that he served as a county judge. As a county judge, he handled criminal misdemeanors, civil cases, landlord/tenant, Baker Acts, uncontested divorces, first appearances, search and arrest warrants. He also oversaw the Mental Health Court.

Before his appointment as a county judge, he worked as an attorney in Florida’s executive branch. His work experience included service as the general counsel to the Agency for State Technology, which later merged with the Department of Management Services. He served as the deputy general counsel with the Florida Department of Corrections and deputy general of the Florida Lotter. He also served as a State Retirement Commissioner and as a board member of Leon County’s Educational Facilities Authority. He also enjoyed legal roles with the Office of the Attorney General, Department of Management Services, and the Department of Financial Services.
He is a 1995 graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University’s College of History and Political Science and 2002 graduate of The Florida State University’s College of Law. He is active in the Florida Bar, including serving as the Past-Chair of the Government Lawyer Section. He is also active in the local bar as a member of Tallahassee Barristers, Tallahassee Women Lawyers and the Tallahassee Bar Association. He serves on the newly formed FSU College of Law’s Black Alumni Network Board. Judge Miller is committed to public service in our community. He is active in mentoring, and serving children, elderly and veterans through various organizations, including Rotary and Hope Worldwide. In September 2019, he was named Kiwanian of the Year for his local club at the time.
He and his family reside in Tallahassee, Florida. He and his wife have three children, two in college and one in high school.
