CSC Leon celebrated the successful completion of its inaugural Summer Youth Internship Program on Thursday, August 8.
The Children’s Services Council of Leon County (CSC Leon) celebrated the successful conclusion of its first Summer Youth Internship Program with a special commencement event on Thursday, August 8, at the TNL Performing Arts Center on South Monroe. The event brought together interns, their families, and employers to celebrate the achievements of the 41 high school students who participated in this pioneering initiative.
The ceremony featured a commencement-like speech delivered by Leon County School Board Member and CSC Leon Chair, Darryl E. Jones.
Leon County School Board Member and CSC Leon Chair, Darryl E. Jones, delivered a commencement-like speech inspiring the students by saying, “Just as Ford Motors is ‘Built for the Road Ahead,’ we believe these students are now equipped with the skills and experience they will need for their future careers. These talented interns have shown remarkable potential and adaptability, characteristics that will pave their road ahead with numerous opportunities.”
Cecka Rose Green, CSC Leon Executive Director, also reflected on the program’s impact: “This internship program has been a transformative experience for the students involved, allowing them to discover their greatness and explore their potential in a supportive, real-world environment. Witnessing their growth and development has been truly inspiring.”
The program’s success was made possible through the collaboration with numerous community partners, notably North Florida Worlds of Work and the Tallahassee Leon County Talent Development Council. These partners played critical roles in recruiting over 30 businesses and organizations to host students, aligning student interests with industry needs, and providing career development opportunities.
Encouraged by this year’s achievements, CSC Leon plans to offer the Summer Youth Internship Program again next summer. Applications for the next cohort of interns will open in February, as CSC Leon continues to nurture the development of young talent in our community.
