Families of children with special needs now have additional support to help make summer enriching, engaging, and accessible.
The Children’s Services Council of Leon County (CSC Leon) is pleased to offer summer scholarships designed specifically for children with special needs, helping reduce financial barriers and expand access to high-quality summer programming across our community.
Summer can be a critical time for children to continue building social skills, confidence, and independence. For many families, however, the cost of specialized programs can make participation difficult. This limited scholarship opportunity is designed to ensure that more children have access to safe, supportive environments where they can learn, grow, and thrive.
Scholarships may be used for approved summer programs that provide inclusive, developmentally appropriate experiences tailored to meet a variety of needs. Programs may include structured camps, therapeutic recreation, and other supportive enrichment opportunities. If approved, families may receive up to $600 for day camps and $1,000 for overnight camps per child for the summer term.
Some familiar programs are returning, including Impact Tallahassee, The Achieve Academy, and Rotary Youth Camp of North Florida, along with new partners like Camp Kesem FSU.
“We know how important it is for our children to feel included and supported, especially during the summer months. This scholarship gives families like ours the chance to say yes to opportunities we might not otherwise be able to afford,” shared a 2025 summer participant.
CSC Leon prioritizes scholarships for families with the greatest financial need, including those experiencing economic hardship despite being employed.
We encourage families to apply as soon as possible, as scholarship availability is limited and demand is expected to be high.
This investment reflects CSC Leon’s commitment to ensuring that all children regardless of ability or income have access to meaningful opportunities that support their development and well being.
