Internship Program Prepares Next Generation of Leon County Workforce

CSC Leon Summer Youth Internship Program

Forty-seven students successfully completed the 2025 summer youth internship program, gaining hands-on experience, professional connections, and employability skills with the support of local businesses and community partners.

TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Children’s Services Council of Leon County (CSC Leon) proudly announces the successful completion of its 2025 Summer Internship Program, celebrating the achievements of 47 local students who dedicated their summer to gaining valuable career experience and developing essential workforce skills.

A graduation ceremony was held on Tuesday, August 5, where CSC Leon Vice Chair Terrence Watts delivered inspiring commencement remarks.

“These opportunities matter, they can change the trajectory of your professional career. It may be immediate or might be several years down the road. I hope you took full advantage of these professional connections,” said Vice Chair Terrence Watts. “Businesses and organizations are actively seeking motivated young people who are eager to learn and grow—individuals they can invest in and develop for the future.”

In addition, eight summer interns earned the Florida Ready to Work Soft Skills Certificate, demonstrating proficiency in key employability skills such as professionalism, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Each student completed interactive training modules and assessments designed to reflect real-world workplace situations.

“This program was a success not just because of the numbers, but because the students set personal goals and achieved them in meaningful ways,” said Kim Grippa, CSC Leon Summer Youth Internship Coordinator. “Whether they wanted to improve time management, explore a career field, or build confidence in their communication skills, our students demonstrated growth that will serve them long after this summer.”

CSC Leon extends its gratitude to the dozens of local businesses and community partners who embraced this opportunity to cultivate young talent in Florida’s capital city. Their mentorship and investment in the next generation helps to build a stronger, more resilient workforce for years to come.

Special appreciation is extended to the Tallahassee-Leon County Talent Development Council for recognizing the CSC Leon Summer Youth Internship Program as part of its workforce development continuum. By aligning with communitywide efforts, like North Florida Worlds of Work (WOW), to better prepare students for future career pathways, CSC Leon reinforces its commitment to helping young people thrive.

CSC Leon also thanks ECHO Outreach Ministries, Bethel AME Church, and Loyalty Credit Union for facilitating workshops and providing supportive environments where students built essential life and career skills prior to placement.

“Investing in our youth today ensures that tomorrow’s workforce is prepared, confident, and connected to opportunity,” said Cecka Rose Green, Executive Director of CSC Leon. “This program is a testament to what can be accomplished when local businesses, faith partners, and community organizations come together to put our kids and youth first.”
