For many women, pregnancy is filled with both excitement and uncertainty. For those navigating limited access to care, that uncertainty can be even greater. AddUs Incorporated is working to change that, creating more opportunities for women and families to access information, services and support when they need it most.
Founded in 2024 by Yolanda Cross-Craig, AddUs was created out of the simple but powerful realization that too many women in the community face barriers to basic health services. As the nonprofit extension of Ultrasound Made Easy, the organization focuses on expanding access to ultrasound services and health education, particularly for the under and uninsured.
Cross-Craig’s vision is rooted in livid experience. Growing up in the community, she saw firsthand how gaps in access to care can shape critical life decisions. Today, that perspective drives Cross-Craig and the mission of AddUs to ensure women have the information and resources they need to take an active role in their health.
Meeting a Real Need in the Community
In a typical pregnancy, insurance only covers two ultrasounds, one during the first trimester and another around the 20 week mark. For many women, additional screenings can be cost-prohibitive. AddUs works to remove that barrier by offering more accessible options, giving women the opportunity to seek reassurance and stay informed throughout their pregnancy journey.
The organization’s work goes beyond pregnancy alone. AddUs also promoted broader health awareness by offering additional ultrasound screenings that may help identify concerns such as fibroids and other conditions. These services help women better understand their bodies without requiring a referral, thus reducing barriers for women who want to take a more proactive role in their health.
As Cross-Craig puts it, “You don’t need permission to take care of yourself. There are so many policies in place to make it feel impossible to take care of yourself the way you want,” she continues. “But you have to take charge of your health and ultrasounds are no different.”
With support from the Children’s Services Council of Leon County, AddUs has gained the tools needed to succeed in being a nonprofit that works not for themselves but for the community that needs them. When a patient visits AddUs, they are not just an appointment; they are a human being who deserves to be treated as such. With their pre-test and post-test assessments, patients are reassured that someone is there, looking out for their wellbeing.

As AddUs continues to grow and expand, its mission remains clear: to serve as a trusted resource for women seeking accessible, supportive care. By meeting women where they are and removing barriers to access, the organization is helping to build a healthier, more informed community, one family at a time.
