On Thursday, August 19, 2021, the Children’s Services Council of Leon County accepted the resignation of Walter Sachs from its Council and swore in newest member, Mr. Terrence Watts.

Walter Sachs, District Administrator for the Department of Children and Families, was assigned to the Council on December 8, 2020, filling one of the statutorily assigned seats on the 10-member council. No stranger to this work, Mr. Sachs previously served on the CSC Planning Committee, funded by the county, and continues to serve as the DCF representative to the sister CSC in Escambia County.

“Mr. Sachs has been instrumental in helping CSC Leon get up and running,” said CSC Interim Administrator Ted Granger, “He provided wise counsel throughout the start-up and played a key role in crafting the needs assessment ITN that, ultimately, will generate a roadmap forward for the Council for years to come.”

Mr. Terrence Watts, Circuit 2 Community Development Administrator for the Florida Department of Children and Families, replaces Mr. Sachs. CSC Leon Chairman and Chief Judge, Jonathon Sjostrom swore in Mr. Watts at the conclusion of the meeting.

Upon the transition, Sachs offered the following commendation, “I am fully confident in Mr. Watts’ experience and leadership, and know he will serve faithfully to develop the needed services for children in our community.”

Granger added, “Mr. Terrence Watts brings a depth of knowledge and understanding about Leon County services and the challenges facing our communities’ children and families that positions him perfectly carry on where Mr. Sachs left off.”
