On Thursday, September 7, Executive Director Cecka Rose Green presented at the Leadership Tallahassee Member Luncheon hosted at the FSU Alumni Association. She used this opportunity to provide a much needed community update on the status of the Children’s Services Council of Leon County (CSC Leon). Beginning with the history of CSC Leon, Ms. Green walked the audience through all that has been accomplished since the organization’s inception in May 2021. (Yes, we are not even 2.5 years old, yet!) She then described the findings from the initial community needs assessment completed in June, 2022, and specific progress toward implementation of the recommendations included in the report. Finally, Ms. Green described the types of funding CSC Leon provides and detailed the investments made thus far under each priority area (see below). The greatest takeaway was announcing that more than $12M has been invested/encumbered to directly improve the lives of children, youth and families in Leon County – the exact purpose of CSC Leon’s existence. On September 30, the CSC Leon governing council will host a strategic planning session to determine what the future investments will be beyond the ones highlighted above. A list of potential investments was also included in the presentation.
